Self-motivated and proactive runner required

The Sound Company Ltd is ideally situated a moment's walk from Oxford Circus & BBC Broadcasting House in the heart of London's vibrant West End.

We built our seven sound recording & audio-post studios within the 6,500 sq ft former All Souls Primary School, built in 1835, which later became the famous Advision music studios. Each of our studios has a character all of its own, and our clients often remark on the scale and quirkiness of our well-loved building.

We now need - quite urgently - a self-motivated and proactive runner to join our close-knit and friendly team.

We're a small family company with a huge throughput of work and very appreciative clients and runners are a vital part of our team as the service we offer to clients can make all the difference to repeat business.

You will be keeping the kitchen, studios and communal areas spotlessly clean and tidy. There will be DIY/building maintenance jobs to be done here and there to keep things ship-shape, and you will take pride in, and ownership of, the cleanliness and tidiness of the studios.

An important part of the role is helping to provide meals and refreshments to clients & staff - so an active interest in food, restaurants and baking would be good. You will be baking fresh bread each day to serve to clients, and making a range of espresso-based coffees with locally sourced beans, as well as a huge range of teas.

You will have an interest in studio equipment and helping to setup the studios ready for bigger recording sessions, and an ability to solder cables, repair headphones and other equipment would be desirable.

You will be in charge of your own Petty Cash - so an ability to work accurately with figures and spreadsheets is essential.

We’re looking for a self-starter with an ability to work under their own steam, look for useful things to do to contribute to the smooth running of the studios, and seek out opportunities to help staff and clients and keep the building clean and in good condition.

Our studio hours are 08.00-19.00 Mon-Fri, usually covered by two shifts (08.00-17.00 and 10.00-19.00), but there will be earlier starts and later finishes - and the occasional bit of w/end work. O/Time is paid outside of basic hours

You might be asked to help with bookings during holidays/sickness so you must be methodical and self-critical about your own work.

Basic hours: 45 hours per week
Salary: London Living Wage

If you’re interested in being part of our passionate studio team, please send a CV and chatty cover letter telling us why you’d like to join our team, what you could bring to it, and outlining your relevant experience to:
